It is always smart to have food storage in your house, whether it is canned or freeze-dried. Of course, here at Food Insurance, we encourage everyone to be prepared. With this being said, if you happen to have canned food stored, here is a great tip if an emergency does arise, but you misplaced, broke, or lost your can opener.
YouTube sensation, Taras Kulakov, calls his channel, “Crazy Russian Hacker.” He is all about life hacks and how you can get away with living life in the fast lane while staying below your budget. Kulakov has several videos on YouTube that have gotten over a million views and he has almost four million subscribers. The video we are particularly interested in is his, “How to Open a Can without a Can Opener” video, which has over 19 million views.
In this video, he shows exactly how to open canned food without a can opener, or any other tools, using only his hands and some concrete. He begins by putting on his safety goggles, safety first. Then, he grabs a tuna can, turning it upside-down and laying it on the concrete. He proceeds to rub the can against the concrete back and forth for about 30 seconds. Then, he picks the can up and squeezes the sides making the can’s lid pop right off. You can see the video below.
